In August 2012 my two daughters, sisters by birth, were placed for adoption with me and my husband. My eldest daughter Amy was 4 years old and my youngest daughter Josie was just a year old.  Prior to this I was a health care professional working in a busy university hospital.

We have had a lot of support from our voluntary adoption agency including support to fund and access therapeutic parenting sessions and Dyadic Developmental Psychotherapy. We are trying very hard to use an attachment model of parenting, in particular the PACE model described by Dan Hughes.

In this blog I aim to share some of our highs and lows, to reflect on our experiences and think about how some of the parenting advice we have been given works in practice. I hope the process of reflection and sharing helps me become a better mother to my two beautiful girls.

For hopefully, obvious reasons the names in this blog are not our real names
